S. 8 Episode 27: Mica Francis Miller: When Abuse Is a Pattern

When Mica Francis Miller died by suicide in April 2024, questions surrounding her marriage to pastor John-Paul Miller quickly captured national attention. But Mica’s story is about much more than the circumstances of her death. Kat and Ashley are joined by Bay Area Turning Point’s Melissa Prentice to examine Mica’s documented attempts to seek help, the allegations of stalking, surveillance, financial and spiritual abuse, and the pattern known as coercive control. They also look at the fight for Mica’s Law and ask whether our current domestic violence laws recognize abuse before it turns deadly.
